With all the constant changes in marketing trends, companies are always wondering whether or not they should hire certain individuals to maintain or monitor certain aspects of their marketing strategies. For example, many companies have recently started to hire community managers in order to manage and monitor their social media platforms. Hiring someone to tackle this job allows someone experienced to handle it and alleviates it from falling into the lap of another employee.

Another job that employers are considering to fill lately is the role of a content housekeeper. With all the rules and strategies that are employed for companies’ content marketing efforts, it’s a good idea to give one person this responsibility.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is an important marketing effort if businesses want to get their websites found on search engines. But search engines have rules and algorithms they use to determine the ranking of websites, and if a company’s SEO fails to be organic or abuses an SEO rule, they can find themselves de-indexed.

A content housekeeper can keep your SEO clean and organic.

By putting your online content into the hands of a content housekeeper, you can ensure that your SEO efforts remain organic. This means that keywords will occur in your content, but will only occur naturally. Content housekeepers will eliminate keyword stuffing from your content and perform research to ensure your content is using the right keywords naturally.

Content housekeepers can also ensure that your online copy is not using other black hat SEO tactics. They’ll double check that your links occur naturally and lead to valuable and quality sites, and they’ll also make sure you’re not using cloaking, doorway pages or hidden text inside your content either.

A content housekeeper can keep you providing quality writing.

A content housekeeper can also ensure that your company’s writing is always consistent and considered high quality work. They can proofread all the content for your site to ensure that it is error free, and they can also be responsible for running it through grammar check tools and spelling checkers for added value. If they find that anything is of poor quality, they can send it back to the initial author for edits. Not only is this good for your company’s SEO, but it also helps your company’s overall image.

A content housekeeper can keep records.

Your content housekeeper can also be responsible for organizing and recording your content. Too many companies create content and post it to the web without keeping records. It’s always a good idea to keep a copy of the work after you send it to the web so that you can reuse it if you need to change your website. Plus, your content housekeeper can also keep records as to when it was posted, where it was posted and any other pertinent metric records, such as shares, web visits or comments, depending on your personal preferences.

Garrett Payne is a social media manager and content writer. He is a grammar guru and always uses a grammar checker before posting his work online.

Many can’t remember what life was like without the internet. It wasn’t long ago that this didn’t exist, and it has revolutionized the way that many people live. The history of the internet starts with the military, and it continues to evolve today. The first origins of the internet begin in the 1950s, when computers were first being developed. As computers continued to develop, the internet eventually became a reality. The uses of the internet have also changed drastically since it began.

The Internet in Universities

When the public first learned that something like the internet was possible, it was through a professor at a university. Computers at several different universities began to be linked, and messages could be sent between them. This was amazing at the time; nothing like this had ever been done before. Several other networks in the United States and Europe were developed and used throughout the 1960s. At this point it will still not available to the general public. By the 1970s as more networks were emerging, a variety of protocols were developed. At this point, many of the separate networks began to merge to create interlinked networks. These were largely used throughout this time by the United States government and the department of defense.

The Beginning of the Internet

The internet protocol suite was introduced in 1982, and this was the beginning of world wide connected network. This was still not available to the general public but through work done by the National Science Foundation, more organizations were provided access. This included educational organizations and research companies. It was not until the late 1980s that most individuals were able to get access to the internet. What was available at that time was very limited, but it was the first time anything like this had existed. The Internet opened to commercial uses in 1995, and it began to take off.

Changes In Society

Currently, the internet has hugely expanded. There is information about almost every topic, and social networking has changed the way that many people live. People are now able to buy and sell goods and services online, which has made a huge impact on businesses. The internet is not only just available to computers; now there are also cell phones which now have the option to connect to the internet. Connecting can be done wirelessly, and there are always new and exciting applications for the internet. There is even the ability of some to work over the internet. This invention has changed the way that many Americans live.

Conclusion

From the beginnings of the internet, it was mainly only available to a few agencies. Many were not aware of what was to come, but it was in the works long before there was instant messaging or social networking. With origins at several prestigious universities, the internet has a very interesting and unique history. As time goes on, the internet may continue to evolve even more. There is so much potential, and it all start with a simple network that linked together two colleges.

It’s no secret that some businesses are seeing huge returns from their online marketing efforts. But in a world where connected customers are constantly flooded with emails and advertisements, many companies’ online marketing efforts are in vain. Messages get lost in the shuffle, ads go unseen, and opportunities are missed. So how can you ensure that your online marketing campaigns are a success for 2013? There are a number of ways that you can customize your campaigns to stand out from the crowd this year.

Custom design
If you’ve ever utilized an email marketing service, you are probably familiar with their templates. Guess what? So are your customers. If you want to differentiate your business from the competition, consider a custom design for your next email campaign. Unique designs are much more likely to attract your customers’ attention than tired templates. And the good news is that custom design doesn’t need to be expensive. Websites such as elance.com and guru.com allow you to connect with web designers that will meet your design and budget needs.

Visual aids
With social networks like Pinterest absolutely exploding, incorporating visual elements into your next online marketing campaign is crucial. There are a few ways to do this. Infographics add an interesting visual element to marketing materials, and they tend to go viral quickly because they are aesthetically appealing and highly useful. You can also incorporate some unique photos that reflect your business, or a short video that creates value for potential customers. Interesting visuals are more likely to attract the attention of potential customers, increasing your campaign’s effectiveness. Try to find a way to diversify your content creation by finding a visual angle that’s right for yoru business.

Optimize for mobile
With mobile usage set to eclipse traditional computer usage by 2015, this should be a no brainer. The world has gone mobile. Customers are constantly connected via smartphones and tablet devices, so optimizing for mobile is no longer optional for businesses. If you want to make a splash with your next marketing campaign, make sure it is optimized for a range of devices. And think about your target audience. For example, are your customers’ iPhone users? If the answer is yes, than it’s critical that your campaign looks incredible on the small screen.

Location, location, location
With more people checking in via social networks like FourSquare, location based marketing is on the rise. Location based marketing is all about connecting with your customers where they are. Having just a open sign for your business may not be enough anymore. It’s especially effective for brick and mortar businesses who are hoping to compete with the online market. Geofencinguses GPS technology in smartphones to connect with customers in a defined perimeter. For example, if a potential customer enters a café next door to your business where you’ve set up a geofence, they will receive a text alert with a special offer. This hyper-local approach is a highly effective marketing tool for businesses who want to improve their bottom line.

Follow up
Retargeting is a way of following up with customers who have clicked through on your campaign but not necessarily taken the desired result. Perhaps they’ve abandoned a full shopping cart, or indicated that they were interested in a product but didn’t make a purchase. Basically, retargeting allows you to choose a certain type of potential customer, then reach them via advertising on sites outside of your business website. So if a customer abandons a full shopping cart before making a purchase, your ad may pop up on the sidebar of a blog or news site that they’ve visited as a reminder that they failed to complete their purchase. Another strategy is to send an email along the lines of “We noticed you didn’t finish your purchase. Here’s a 10% discount to get you to buy in the next 24 hours….”Sometimes a little nudge via retargeting is all it takes.

Creating effective online marketing campaigns is a key contributor to the success of your business in 2013. By ensuring that you are reaching your customers where they are, you have a better chance of making connections and enticing them to visit your website, make a purchase, etc. If you are hoping to turn potential customers into existing customers this year, these are some great ways to get started.

SEO services assist business in building their websites traffic through various SEO tools. However, when it comes to doing business, is bringing new people to view your website, is that going to actually make you money.

SEO tools go beyond simply bringing people to your website, they assist you in creating content that creates action. After all, customers can come and go on your website all day, but you wont make money unless they buy something.

Content is the strongest tool for turning traffic into customers, and this blog will assist you in creating content for your website that will encourage action.

Predicting

When you write your content, your going to have to tap into your fortune telling skills to figure out the basics to get people to act on your site rather than just browsing. The best start to creating this content is to ask yourself some questions to give yourself a better understanding of your expected results.

What action do you want your customers to take? Has your previous content sparked action? Why did that content spark action? Understanding your answers to these questions are going to give you direction of what your content needs to be to inspire action.

Influence

You need to ask yourself if your content is raising enough eyebrows or is provocative enough. You want to raise eyebrows to stir up emotions. When your content stirs up emotions, it causes people to act on impulse. When people go shopping, they develop a buying impulse; you want to use your content to keep customers at the height of that impulse causing them to take action to buy.

Be Unique

Customers get tired of reading the same old jargon about how one company sells the best products and focus on satisfaction and blah blah blah. People want something fresh that is going to give them a visionary moment.

Unique content strikes the interest of customers, which will make them feel like what your offering is legit and not just a bunch of words to make some money.

Relevance

The trick to making content that creates action is to make a sale without trying to make a sale. People hate sales pitches and if they feel like they are being pushed on, they are going to back away. So your content needs to draw the line between sales and influence.

You don’t want to sell and your content should reflect that. Be specific to your product, but some businesses even use the “I don’t need it” attitude. This attitude shows customers that it’s not that important if you don’t use their service, they just wanted to share their information with you.

Every business should want to expand their content. Content is a strong SEO tool, but doesn’t do any good if your business is not seeing results.Your website content should inspire action rather than just browsing, that is the strongest way to take advantage of this dominant SEO tool, giving your business results rather than just traffic.

Robert has been writing about SEO tools for the past 5 years i hopes to influence businesses of their benefits in increasing visibility and bringing more traffic to your company’s website.

Running an eCommerce website can be a great way to generate large amounts of income with product sales online. However, one of the common issues that comes with this type of website is that it can be difficult to get traffic. If you’re running an eCommerce site, you may find yourself spending a lot of money on pay-per-click or banner ads just to get people there. In some cases, you may want to explore other methods of getting traffic like organic search traffic. In order to do this, you’re going to need to utilize content marketing. Why should you use a content marketing strategy for your eCommerce website and how will it help?

Why You Need Content Marketing

Content marketing is a strategy that utilizes high-quality Web content to get people to your website. You write content that is based around keyword search terms. If your site is optimized correctly, then search engines will start to send people to your site when they search for keywords that are found in your content.

When you correctly utilize a content marketing strategy, you can get all kinds of free traffic to your website. The search engines don’t charge you to send traffic to your site. This is like getting people walking into your business without having to spend any money on advertising. In many cases, content marketing can also improve your perception in the eyes of the consumer. If you’re willing to give out free, helpful information, then they will be more likely to believe that your products or services carry good value.

Common Content Marketing Mistakes to Avoid

When you engaging content marketing, there are some common mistakes that you should try to avoid. For example, many people make the mistake of trying to cram their content full of keywords. They think that search engines want to see lots of keywords, so they write content that doesn’t sound natural. Try to write content that just has a few keywords, but is primarily designed for people to read.

Another mistake that people make is using content that has already appeared elsewhere online. Search engines hate duplicate content, and they will typically punish your site for it. If you to paraphrase content or simply copy it out right from some other source, you are going to be hurting yourself in the long run.

Making it Work

If you are interested in pursuing a content marketing strategy, there are a number of tips and tricks that you can use. For one thing, you need to be creative and put forth the best effort that you can when creating your content. You may want to consider making infographics, videos, and audio files to go along with your written content.

You may want to hire creative professionals or editors to look over your content when possible. This will bump up the quality of the content a notch. You should also publish your content on the proper platform such as WordPress, instead of just throwing the content in with your eCommerce stuff.

Once you have great content published, try to distribute it on high-quality bookmarking and directory sites. Your content should also be optimized effectively for search engines. This can be done by creating compelling information for people to see in the search engines. Then distribute your content through social media as much as possible, and you might be surprised how well your content marketing does.

A common thread in online advertising revolves around keeping your search engine ranking high. This is not an exact science, but there are a few things that you should do to ensure that Google does not penalize your website. Search engine optimization is different from your Google Adwords campaign, but it certainly it does not hurt to have both. Be aware of what Google wants and does not want before starting your SEO online advertising plan.

Do Not Break the Rules

This should be a no-brainer, but a surprising number of people think that they can get around the rules that Google has implemented. Google has applied these rules for a reason and if you try to break them, Google will surely find out and will penalize your website. One thing to avoid is keyword stuffing, as Google wants your articles to be written for human beings, rather than search engines. While the algorithm changes that were brought forth by Panda and Penguin eliminated most of these poorly written articles, some website owners feel the need to attempt to outsmart Google, which never ends well. Create an honest online advertising campaign, as this will bring the best results.

Don’t Purchase Links

Google looks at the number of backlinks that your website has and uses this information to help with your search engine ranking. While this might make purchasing links sound like a good idea, it is not. Google now considers the quality of the websites that are linking to your website. If you purchase links, they are likely to be from a substandard website. When Google finds out that most of your links are from websites of this nature, it will punish your website and send you down the search engine rankings. While you can still use Google Adwords advertising, your SEO campaign will be in serious trouble if this occurs.

Create Fresh Content

It should go without saying that you must have unique content on your website, but some webmasters do not understand what this means. The content that you put on your website should not be found anywhere else online. If you own more than one website or will be advertising your website on another site, you must have unique content for each location. Once you have duplicate content, Google will find out and could end up blacklisting your website.

No Shortcuts

Overall, you should focus your online advertising on the products or services that you have to sell, while creating a website that people want to visit. Many websites in the past relied on black hat methods of driving traffic to their websites, which led to numerous Google changes. Today, the only way to succeed long term is to do things the right way. Take your time and use a variety of methods, such as Google Adwords advertising and SEO, to drive traffic to your website. If you build your business in an ethical way, you are sure to be rewarded by Google, rather than punished.

If you have a Google ID and want to be part of Google+ which is the next big social networking site on the net, here is a complete guide on how to get started. When you enter Google+, the first question you will be asked is if you want to link your Picasa Web Album to your Google+ account. If you wish to share your photos and videos with other people on your network, you can agree to link the two. The next page will greet you and guide you to your profile.

Create Your Profile

Click on the black bar on the top part of the screen so you can view your profile and edit the information you wish to. You can also alter the privacy settings for the different circles of people who are on your list on this page itself. Once you have filled in the details you like, you can continue to your profile and have a look at what it looks like before moving on to check your updates on the Posts tab.

Add Connections

When you want to add people to your Google+, an easy way to go about it is to choose the Show All option on the Suggestions sidebar. Here you will be able to find all your friends who are already using Google+ and add them to your circles. If you want to add a friend who is not on the list of suggestions, use the Find and Invite tab to do so.

Create Circles

With the help of this feature, you can organize your connections on Google+ a lot better. The networking site offers you some default circles including Family, Friends, Acquaintances and Following. You could also create a new circle by hovering over the Drop Here section. All you need to do to put different people into different circles is drag them over to the desired section.

Tweak Your Settings

To tweak your settings, you will have to click on the Options tab located on the black bar at the top of the screen. Go through the notifications you receive, information you share via photos and geographical location, auto approval of tags and change them according to what you want to share and what you don’t.

Stream Your Updates

When you return to your home page after setting up your profile, you will receive a stream of updates from all the people in your circles. If you want, you can view all the updates at once or go through them circle by circle. A down arrow next to each arrow will give you the option to share, report as abuse or block a certain connection’s updates.

Chat and Hang out with Friends

A sidebar on the left of your Google+ account will show you the connections that are online for chat or video chat. A green dot and a green video camera determine so respectively. Simply click on the name of the person you want to chat with and start talking! Google is an ever-growing enterprise and keep updating their features from time to time. As and when newer features emerge on Google+, their Help Section should be sufficient for all your queries.
